Bonjour tout le monde. Welcome to another French lesson. Today, I'd like to test your knowledge of colloquial French vocabulary. I'm going to ask you 20 questions. Take a sheet of paper to write down your answers, and at the end of the video, we'll go through the correction together, so you can keep track of how many points you've scored.

Colloquial vocabulary, colloquial French, is vocabulary you don't usually see at school when you're studying French. And yet, it's very important vocabulary and expressions if you want to come and live in France or come on vacation to France. Or if you want to understand series, TV shows or films. Because it's a vocabulary that's used every day in families, in groups of friends, et cetera.

The test is finished. Let's move on to the correction. Each correct answer is worth one point and there were 20 questions. So each correct answer is worth one point out of 20.

At the end of the correction, don't hesitate to comment on how many points you scored. Getting a good mark is all very well, but the most important thing is to learn vocabulary. So if you don't know most of these words, that's okay too.

Don't hesitate to repeat the test a little later to see how well you've memorized them.

Question one. The correct answer was. I'm a nurse and I've been working for three years in a hospital in Marseille. In everyday language, you could say I've been working for three years in a hospital in Marseille. Bosser is a colloquial verb used instead of travailler.

Question two, the correct answer is Lola dumped Chris. He's been single since yesterday. In colloquial French, you could say Lola has left Chris. Larguer is a word used in colloquial French.

Correction to question three. I haven't eaten in 24 hours. I'm starving. Starving means you're very, very hungry again in colloquial language.

Correction of question four. I didn't sleep last night. I'm exhausted, I just want to go home and sleep it off. Pioncer is slang for "to sleep".

Question five. I can't follow the GPS. I've gone the wrong way three times now. I have to go back. The correct answer was A. I'm going the wrong way. It comes from the verb se gourer. You can also use the verb se planter in colloquial language. It means to go wrong, to make a mistake. You can also get it wrong in a French exercise.

Question fourteen. I've run out of money, I spent it all on a car. I'll have to borrow money from my parents. Thune is a slang synonym for money. There are lots of slang synonyms for the word money. In fact, I made a special video on the subject. I'll show it above.

Question fifteen. Do you have a good book to recommend? Yes, I read this book recently. Book is simply a synonym for book. This word is really basic colloquial language. Everyone uses it, regardless of age or social background.

Question sixteen. Can you pass me that bottle of water? I'm so thirsty, I need to hydrate. The correct answer was A. Flotte. Flotte is used as a synonym for water. De la flotte, de l'eau. But we can also use the verb flotter instead of pleuvoir. It floated all afternoon. It rained all afternoon.
